This winning tradition is due to all of you, the outstanding young men who have been in this program and have represented Kingwood with distinction and brought good will and positive publicity to our community.

We are asking you today to support our program and to participate in the Kingwood Legacy Classic. This memorial charity is run by alumni basketball players and raises college scholarship money for needy Kingwood Basketball graduates. These scholarships are given in the name of a former varsity player who was tragically taken from us in his early 20’s. One year ago, Chad Maclies, a driving force behind the first team to win a district title under Coach Royce Huseman, and an honor roll student and all-conference forward at Centenary University, died suddenly of natural causes three weeks before his college graduation. Chad epitomized all of the character qualities we aspire for our young athletes. Our hope is that the Chad Maclies Scholarship will not only help a former Kingwood basketball player to find his dreams, but also honor and remember the special life of Chad.
